Jake Johnson, a third-year law student at South Texas College of Law Houston (STCL Houston), has been appointed as a Houston Bar Association (HBA) Ambassador, securing a prestigious two-year term.

Recognized for his outstanding academic achievements and unwavering dedication to the legal profession, Johnson’s journey is one that promises to leave a lasting impact on the legal community.

A native of New Braunfels, Texas, Johnson has been an active, engaged member of the STCL Houston community throughout his law school journey. Embarking on a second career after serving in the government service in the Marine Corps, Johnson’s unwavering commitment to serving others meaningfully fueled his decision to pursue a legal path.

Kirk Guillory, director of student engagement at STCL Houston, praised Johnson’s achievements. “As Jake prepares to graduate and embark on his legal career, he will undoubtedly continue to make significant contributions to the legal profession and uphold the values that have defined his time at STCL Houston,” Guillory said.

At STCL Houston, Johnson served as articles editor for the South Texas Law Review. Johnson has showcased his passion for fostering a sense of community and belonging by serving as a Student Ambassador for STCL Houston. Notably, he held the position of past president for the Veteran Law Students Association, where he successfully reintroduced the organization to campus life along with fellow 3L student Vanessa Botello, creating a supportive environment for student veterans to thrive and flourish.

As an incoming HBA Ambassador, Johnson envisions a future where law students actively engage with the legal community from the start of their careers. By increasing awareness and understanding of HBA membership and its core functions, he seeks to empower the next generation of legal professionals to build strong networks, contribute through volunteerism, and partake in essential pro bono efforts across the vibrant Houston legal landscape.
