South Texas College of Law Houston is approved by the Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar of the American Bar Association, 321 North Clark Street, Chicago, IL 60654, 312-988-6738.

South Texas College of Law Houston is a member of the Association of American Law Schools, 1201 Connecticut Ave., N.A., Suite 800, Washington, T.C.  20036-2717, 202-296-8851.

South Texas College of Law Houston (“STCL Houston” or the “Law School”) is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE or the Commission) [www.msche.org] www.msche.org; 1007 North Orange Street, 4th Floor, MB #166, Wilmington, Delaware 19801. STCL Houston’s accreditation status is accreditation granted. The Commission’s most recent action on the institution’s accreditation status on October 30, 2025 was to grant accreditation status. MSCHE is recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation and pre-accreditation (candidate status) activities for institutions of higher education including distance, correspondence education, and direct assessment programs offered at those institutions. The Commission’s geographic area of accrediting activities is throughout the United States.

South Texas College of Law Houston is a member institution with the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) which provides reciprocity-based approval for distance education in SARA member states.  Student complaint procedures may be found at NC-SARA Student Complaints.  Note that NC-SARA has no effect on state licensure requirements.  STCL Houston’s J.D. degree program is accredited by the American Bar Association Council of the Section of Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar (“ABA”) and designed to lead to admission to the bar of a United States jurisdiction. Licensure requirements vary by jurisdiction. Students are responsible for reviewing the requirements for any jurisdiction in which they intend to seek admission by contacting the jurisdiction.
