Why did you choose to attend South Texas College of Law Houston?
I chose to attend South Texas College of Law Houston for its downtown location, which is within walking distance from courthouses and several law firms. It is in the heart of Houston’s legal community. When I toured the campus, I felt an unexplainable “at home” vibe, which was one of the most important factors I was looking for. Environment is everything.
What legal opportunities have you participated in?
I am working at Pappas, Grubbs, Price PC this fall.
How did you secure that opportunity?
I applied through the Career Resource Center’s job board, Simplicity, which provides an avenue for South Texas College of Law Houston students and alumni to connect with employers seeking to hire.
How did the CRC help you successfully navigate the recruitment process?
I took advantage of the CRC’s invitation for resume and cover letter assistance and booked an appointment with Marie. She helped me refine both documents, tailoring them to what legal employers are looking for. It was extremely helpful to learn how a strong legal resume should be formatted, and eye-opening to realize how much mine needed improvement – but I was eager to learn.

What are your career goals for the future?
I would love to help clients during some of the most vulnerable times in their lives. I want to listen to their needs and take the steps necessary to ensure their issues are rectified. One of my goals is to make the Super Lawyers list someday for my hard work! Maybe even the 40 under 40 or 50 under 50 list.
What advice would you give future law students going through recruitment?
Be your authentic self. People love authenticity. It is respectable and intriguing.
Which professors have influenced you and your career path the most?
I strive to be as approachable as Professor Festa and Professor Vukadin, and as thorough as Professor Browne-Barbour and Professor Nelson. These professors have shaped the type of attorney I strive to be. They taught me the value of being approachable with your clients and thorough in the work you do to ensure success for both you and your client.
What student organizations have you been involved with?
This year, I am the President of the First Generation Law Student Association (last year I was the Vice President). I am also the Vice President of Parents Attending Law School (PALS), and last year I was the Social Media Chair of The Lawtina Network.
What is something about you we can’t learn from your resume?
I am a musical theatre nerd. I was in several productions in middle school and high school, and continue to enjoy going to the theatre to this day. I love acting, singing and dancing!
How has the law school community supported your growth?
STCL Houston has truly improved my level of self-confidence. This has allowed me to be comfortable in environments that I never knew I could feel comfortable in. Initially having nerves about law school is expected, but knowing that I am supposed to be here has meant the world to me. I have also met some of the most amazing people in my life, many of whom I know are going to be lifelong friends. There is truly an amazing community of people at South Texas Law.
