Why did you choose to attend South Texas Law?
The law school’s great reputation for preparing practice-ready lawyers drew me in. It’s also close to home, which I appreciate.
What legal opportunities are you participating in?
I will join Doré Rothberg Law as a summer associate in 2027.
How did you secure that opportunity?
I applied to the opportunity through the Career Resource Center’s On Campus Interview program. Afterward, I participated in two rounds of interviews. I got the offer the day after my second round.
How did the Career Resource Center (CRC) help you successfully navigate the recruitment process?
My CRC counselor Marie Garcia helped me tighten up and polish my resume, reframing my previous teaching experience in a way that is relevant to the field of law. She also helped prepare me for the hiring process by holding a mock interview and helping me craft follow-up questions for my interviewer.
What are your career goals for the future?
For now, I want to keep exploring various areas of the law. At the end of the day, I want to be able to support my wife and our family.
What advice would you give future law students going through recruitment?
Don’t get discouraged! The job that is meant for you is out there; use every resource at your disposal to seek that job out. If you’re unsure what those resources are, the CRC is there to help.
Who has been influential to you and your career path?
Professor Thompson’s contracts class sparked an interest in me in working with deals.
What student organizations have you been involved with?
I am the social chair for the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association. I also am a CRC ambassador and member of Currents: Journal of International Economic Law.
How has the law school community supported your growth?
One of the most invaluable resources that STCL Houston offers are the professors. They are always willing to meet and answer every question you have, from class content to potential career paths.
What is something unique about you that doesn’t appear on your resume?
I am a published poet!
