South Texas Law Review’s 31st Annual Ethics Symposium Set for Feb. 28th

(Houston, Texas) Feb. 20, 2025 — South Texas College of Law Houston and the South Texas Law Review invite legal professionals, scholars, and students to attend the 31st Annual Law Review Symposium, Looking Forward: Navigating the Future of Law

This year’s symposium will explore how emerging trends, evolving case law, and advancements in technology are shaping the legal landscape. Through engaging discussions with esteemed experts, attendees will gain insight into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for the profession.

The event is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on campus, in Garrett-Townes auditorium, at 1303 San Jacinto in Houston. An on-site cocktail reception will begin at 3:15 p.m. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. A light breakfast and lunch from Treebeard’s will be provided. 

The cost to attend is $100 for general admission and $75 for STCL Houston alumni. Group registration for 5-15 attendees is available at $50 per person. STCL Houston students, faculty, and staff may attend at no cost.

This year’s symposium will feature thought-provoking discussions on key areas shaping the future of law, including Corporate and Energy Law, Constitutional Law, Criminal Justice, and the intersection of AI and Legal Accountability.

Featured speakers include:

  • Corporate and Energy Law: Developments and Sustainability – Alex Kuiper ’13 (Kuiper Law Firm), Ken Bullock ’06 (Frost Brown Todd), Ellen Conley (Haynes Boone)
  • Evolving Constitutional Law – Martin Siegel (The Siegel Firm), Hon. Chief Judge Jennifer W. Elrod (U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, STCL Houston’s Jurist-in-Residence)
  • Advances in Criminal Justice – Prof. Tom Hogan (STCL Houston), Prof. Claire Andresen (STCL Houston)
  • AI and Legal Accountability – Justice (ret.) John G. Browning (Faulkner University), Christina Crozier (Haynes Boone), Jet McGuire (BoyarMiller)

Additional speakers may be added as we continue to build an exciting and insightful lineup.

Attendees will gain valuable perspectives on the legal profession’s future and the ethical considerations that accompany these rapid changes.
