South Texas College of Law Houston students recently traded law books and jeans for Gatsby-themed formal attire to attend the 2026 Barrister’s Ball, the annual “law school prom” planned by the Student Bar Association.
In addition to dancing and dinner, the Office of Student Engagement presented various awards to students, staff, and faculty. The winners for this event are selected by students in a voting process each spring.
Here are some of the key honors:
• 2026 Outstanding Female Graduate: Jasmine Crabtree
• 2026 Outstanding Male Graduate (tie): Ryan Lanier, Marc Wynne
• SBA Excellence Award for full-time faculty: Prof. Emilio Longoria
• SBA Excellence Award for adjunct faculty: The Hon. Jennifer Elrod, STCL Houston Jurist in Residence
• SBA Excellence Award for clinical instructor: Eric Yu
• SBA Excellence Award for teaching staff: Prof. Curtis D’Costa
• Open Door Award, based on accessibility to students: Prof. Mike Barry
