Tables are selling quickly for the 2023 Centennial Gala, presented by Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz and Stogner. STCL Houston’s largest scholarship fundraiser, the event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23, at 6:30 p.m., at the Corinthian in downtown Houston.

Live entertainment for the evening will be provided by the classic R&B group The Spinners, whose members will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this fall.

In addition to the traditional gala festivities (dinner, dancing, and Paddles UP!), there will be an after party featuring a DJ in the Corinthian’s Vault from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Gala tickets include entry to this event. For those who cannot attend the gala, tickets to the after party alone are $100 per person. All the evening’s proceeds will support scholarships at STCL Houston.

The 2023 Centennial Gala is co-chaired by two couples – Karen and Roland Garcia ’86, and Jen and Brant Stogner, both class of ’06.

“We are honored to be a part of this historic, milestone event that contributes so much to South Texas Law’s ability to make attending law school more affordable for students,” said Roland, a shareholder at Greenberg Traurig, LLP and a long-time supporter of STCL Houston. His wife Karen is a thought leader in IT business management. After a successful career at BMC Software, she is now an entrepreneur/consultant. “It’s going to be a fun evening, and I’m excited to be a part of it,” said Karen.

“STCL Houston’s Centennial Gala will be a tribute to 100 years of excellence in legal education,” Jen said.  “It’s a once in a lifetime event, and hopefully one heck of a party. We hope all our alumni will make plans to attend.”

Jen, president of the Alumni Association Board of Directors (AABOD) at South Texas Law, is Of Counsel at Abraham, Watkins, Nichols, Agosto, Aziz and Stogner. Brant is a partner at the firm, and a former AABOD president. They both participated in the advocacy program at South Texas Law, winning a national trophy together.

“We are so happy to be working on the gala with each other and the Garcias. This is a great opportunity to celebrate the Centennial and support scholarships,” said Brant.
