South Texas College of Law Houston’s Career Resource Center recently hosted its annual Fall First Look | Meet the Employers open house and networking event.
Now in its seventh year, the event — attended by nearly 230 first-year students and 24 law firms — provided participants with a sneak peek into opportunities for summer associate placements ahead of the 1L recruitment cycle.
Shantal Formia, assistant dean of career services, said, “Employers are reaching out to 1L students before first-semester grades are released. Fall First Look provides students a competitive edge in the earlier recruitment cycles of today’s legal market.”
Assistant Director of Employer Relations Noor Ismail said the event helps first-year law students acclimate to this trend and “dive headfirst into the world of recruiting.”
