South Texas College of Law Houston has named its co-chairs and host committee for the 2026 South Texas Law Annual Gala.

The Gala co-chairs are Nomaan K. “Nomi” Husain ’97 and Dr. Kamila Husain and Ryan Zehl ’04 and Laura Zehl. Nomi is the founding attorney of Husain Law Houston Accident & Injury Lawyers, PC, and Ryan is the founder and owner of Zehl & Associates.

The event leaders are excited to announce that the 2026 Gala, which raises money for student scholarships, is scheduled Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at The Revaire. It will feature an evening of fine dining, networking and fun, all for a vital cause — to open the door for the next generation of attorneys to receive an exceptional South Texas Law J.D. degree.

The host committee includes (to date) President and Dean Reynaldo Anaya Valencia, Associate Dean for Experiential Education Catherine Greene Burnett, Ryan Newman ’07, Billy Murphy Jr. ’06, Kyle Watson ’04, and J. Goodwille Pierre ’00.

Ryan Zehl is a trial lawyer who has repeatedly recovered the largest verdicts and settlements in history for clients across Texas, Louisiana, and the United States who were seriously injured or killed in oilfield explosions, plant and refinery explosions, trucking accidents, and other catastrophic events. His accomplishments, in and out of the courtroom, have received extensive national media attention, and his firm has been repeatedly selected as one of the “best catastrophic injury firms in the U.S.” by National Law Journal and Best Lawyers.

Nomaan K. Husain’s law firm, based in Houston, focuses on litigation, immigration, and aviation. He has represented clients ranging from foreign governments to individual business owners, and his clients are located in many countries around the world. He is board certified in civil trial law and in personal injury litigation by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Husain recently was recognized as a Global Leader of Influence by the World Affairs Council of Greater Houston and named a Houston Legend by the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
