Carlos Escobar, a Texas A&M alumnus, chose South Texas College of Law Houston after attending an admitted student orientation because he felt at home. “I knew this was where I belonged,” he said.
After earning his JD from South Texas Law in May, Escobar will begin a new job at SBSB Eastham. In preparation for his job search, the law school’s Career Resource Center (CRC) helped him improve his resume, cover letters, and conducted a mock interview.

“My goal is to remain at SBSB and work my way up the ladder,” Escobar said. “I am very happy to join this firm because I enjoy this type of law practice and already know I love the workplace environment — which is key to a long and satisfying career.”
Escobar would advise future law students to use all their resources, particularly the CRC, to their full advantage. “It is never too early to start looking for a job,” he said. “And networking is key to landing a job.”
Associate Dean and Professor of Law Ted Field has been Escobar’s most influential professor. He took Torts I, Torts II, and Evidence with Prof. Field.
During law school, Escobar has been involved with Aggie Law Students Association and with the Hunting and Rifle Association, which promotes the safe and responsible practice of hunting and firearm sports while advocating for the conservation of wildlife and their habitats.
“The STCL Houston community has supported my growth by providing me with lifelong friends,” Escobar said. “I personally never give up, and I do not let setbacks discourage me. I love how this school fosters a supportive environment where everybody roots for each other’s success.”
