Why did you choose to attend South Texas College of Law Houston?
When I moved to Houston, advocacy was the guiding factor in my law school search. South Texas Law’s reputation for advocacy spoke for itself, and I wanted to be somewhere that would challenge me to push myself to the absolute maximum.

What legal opportunities have you participated in?
This summer I’ll be splitting my time between Serpe Andrews and Fee, Smith & Sharp.

How did you secure those opportunities?
I first came across both firms during my time at Sorrels Law, and I was really impressed with the quality of their work in different areas of litigation. When the chance came up to pursue them through the law school’s on-campus interviews, I leaned into the support from the Career Resource Center (CRC) to curate applications that reflected that genuine interest and helped me show up as my best self during the process.

How did the CRC help you successfully navigate the recruitment process?
Throughout the recruitment process, the CRC team was able to help refine my applications in a way that felt authentic to me. It brought me peace of mind.

What are your career goals for the future?
My goal is to litigate complex and varied issues and to become really good at it. I would love to eventually handle appellate work, too. What matters most to me is building the skills to be a formidable advocate in whatever cases I take on.

What advice would you give future law students going through recruitment?
Do the work and prepare, but go into the process as your authentic self. Once your academics get you in the door, firms want to know what kind of colleague you will be, and you need to figure that out about them as well. Approaching it authentically makes it easier to see where you fit and who you want to work alongside.

Which professors have influenced you and your career path the most?
I have had wonderful professors across all my semesters, but two stand out. Professor Goodman really helped me find my place at South Texas Law. Through her teaching style, the way she showed up in class, and our conversations, she gave me a lot of confidence as someone new to both the school and the country. Professor Worley also has been a major influence. I enjoyed both his class and the engaging conversations outside of it, which pushed me to think more deeply about the law in general, and I will always be grateful for that.

What student organizations have you been involved with?
I try to show up for different organizations to engage with a variety of activities, perspectives, and cultures, which are all important to me. I have been especially involved with the Muslim Legal Society and the South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA). The Muslim Legal Society gave me a supportive community during my first year, and I am honored to now serve as vice president. With SALSA, I am working alongside friends to grow the community and to create more streamlined opportunities for prospective South Asian attorneys, as well as anyone else who would like to be involved. I am currently vice president there as well.

What is something about you we can’t learn from your resume?
I tend to go through phases where I get really invested in different things, such as playing the guitar, learning to cook, doing Brazilian jiu-jitsu, exploring different eras of music, or even diving into fashion. Law school has not left me much time for a new obsession, but one constant has been football — and no, I will not call it soccer. I am a passionate Liverpool FC supporter.

How has the law school community supported your growth?
For a school with so many students, South Texas Law never fails to feel like a tight-knit community. Professors and staff are always willing to help in different areas of life, and the school offers an endless list of opportunities to get involved. I am currently expanding my craft as an advocate through moot court, staying active in the communities that matter to me, and continuing to push myself to grow both personally and professionally.
