Tonya Jackson

Vice President, Finance and Administration, CFO

Tonya Jackson previously served as the associate vice president for finance and university controller for Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, Florida. In this role, Jackson managed the University operation units of the controller’s office which included payroll tax and liabilities, accounts payable, warrant distribution, student financial services, property and asset management, general accounting, financial reporting, and treasury management. She also worked cross-functionally with various leaders across the University including members of the senior leadership team on initiatives related to planning, operations, and compliance.

Prior to Florida A&M University, Jackson has worked more than 15 years in higher education with schools such as Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University and Saint Augustine’s University, where she assisted with regaining accreditation for the University. She also spent more than 15 years in corporate accounting and finance with companies such as Cross-Country Consulting, Inc and LaFarge North America. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in accounting as an honors program graduate from Clark Atlanta University and a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) with a concentration in Accounting from Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University.

She combines her financial background with a strong commitment to serve underrepresented communities. In addition to joining the ranks as a NACUBO Fellows Program graduate for 2022-2023, she is a member of multiple community and professional organizations including Association for Government Accountants (AGA), National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), and Delta Sigma Theta, Incorporated.
