Michelle Morris, Ed.D., joined South Texas Law as the associate vice president for marketing and communications in 2021 after serving as founding CEO and president of the consulting firm GideonStone, LLC, for a decade. Before launching GideonStone, Dr. Morris served as assistant vice president for marketing and communications at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and as vice president for university relations at Abilene Christian University. She also served as a consultant and interim associate vice president for enrollment and student success for the College of Biblical Studies.

As a consultant, Dr. Morris worked with a variety of businesses, organizations, governmental entities, and nonprofits across Houston and in other cities and states. She has served as the architect for major re-branding initiatives, developed complex strategic plans, managed successful fundraising events, guided accreditation projects, and developed/executed marketing campaigns that led to record results.

The seasoned communications professional founded and led a public relations and event planning firm in Morristown, Tenn., and has served as an award-winning journalist, magazine editor, and book co-author. She earned her doctorate in higher education administration from Texas Tech University and her master’s and bachelor’s in journalism from ACU. Dr. Morris won a gold Telly Award for video excellence, a Texas newspaper feature writing award, and numerous honors from the American Marketing Association, American Advertising Federation, and Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.
