New Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg Sworn into Office at South Texas College of Law Houston
Before an audience of hundreds on Monday, new Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg was sworn into office at her alma mater, South Texas College of Law Houston.
South Texas President and Dean Donald J. Guter served as emcee for the event which was held in the Joe Green Auditorium. Ogg vowed to uphold the law and protect the integrity of the office by reciting an oath administered by her father, former state Sen. Jack C. Ogg.
While Ogg officially was sworn into office just after the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Day, this second ceremony provided an opportunity for her to thank her many supporters and colleagues.
She shared her gratitude on being elected as Harris County DA and reiterated some of her campaign promises, such as increasing the office’s transparency in police shootings and boosting prosecutions of white-collar criminals.
During the ceremony, she asked the dozens of attorneys in her office to stand and pledge their support of the law and the offices they hold.
