Meet Meredith Mire, 2L and learn more about her story at South Texas Law in this Student Spotlight by the Career Resource Center.

Why did you choose to attend South Texas College of Law Houston?

STCL Houston has always been highly praised by everyone I know in the legal field. Being from Houston, I knew I wanted to be near family throughout my law school journey. South Texas Law constantly pushes me to be a better student, and it offers endless resources and possibilities to promote both personal and academic growth. I cannot imagine going through the ups and downs of law school anywhere else!

What is something interesting about you that we can’t learn from your resume?

I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Where are you working this summer?

I will be working with Andrews Myers, PC during the first half of summer and with Kean Miller LLP during the second half of summer.

How did you secure that employment opportunity?

I secured my summer employment opportunities through participating in the On-campus Interview process through the Career Resource Center.

How did the Career Resource Center help you successfully navigate the recruitment process?

The CRC helped me with the everything, every step of the way! The team guided me throughout the entire process, ensured all my application documents were prepared correctly and submitted on time, and always made sure I was pursing every opportunity that interested me. They essentially held my hand throughout the entire summer job search, and I could not be more grateful for the time and efforts they invested in me.

What are your career goals for the future?

I hope to be working at a firm with a culture that is both welcoming and supportive. I thrive in an environment of growth, and I know there is still so much for me to learn!

What piece of advice would you share with future law students going through recruitment?

Use the Career Resource Center! Recruitment is very unique and can be hard to navigate alone. They have an abundance of knowledge about every aspect of the recruitment process and will invest all their time and effort into your personal career journey. They encourage questions, are eager to get to know you, and will work extra hard to help you land where you want to be.

Which professors have influenced you and or your career path the most?

Professor Solomon and Professor Rempell have both pushed me to become a better writer and have taught me valuable legal research and writing skills. Their guidance has allowed me to become more confident in my writing style and also has helped prepare me for the real world (which I hear is full of writing!).

What student organizations have you been involved with?

I am involved in the South Texas Law Review, which has been a fun and collaborative learning experience!

Beyond the CRC, how has the law school community supported your growth?

The South Texas Law community is incredibly supportive of every student’s law school journey. From all my professors to my classmates to the Candyman Deli, everyone at South Texas is truly rooting for each other to succeed and will do anything to help along the way.
