Claire Andresen joined the faculty at South Texas College of Law Houston in 2023. Her scholarly interests focus on the intersection of criminal law, evidence, and child protection. Her work has been published in the University of Hawai‘i Law Review and builds on more than a decade of experience handling child abuse and exploitation cases.
Before entering academia, Professor Andresen served as a prosecutor in Texas. She began her career at the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, one of the largest in the nation. She prosecuted serious violent offenses, including murder, capital murder, and aggravated robbery, and worked alongside investigators on cases involving public officials under criminal investigation. In 2017, she joined the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor in the Child Abuse Division. There, she handled cases involving physical and sexual abuse of children, child exploitation, and human trafficking. In addition to trial work, she represented the State in appellate proceedings.
Professor Andresen earned her J.D. from Washington & Lee University School of Law and her B.A. from Rice University. At South Texas, she teaches Criminal Law and Evidence and serves as the faculty advisor for Parents Attending Law School (PALS).
