Welcome to your 2018–2019 year at South Texas College of Law Houston! As your Student Bar Association President, I want to ensure that the SBA continues to serve our fellow classmates so that we all can reach the highest level of success with integrity and ease. We are excited to remain committed to the Houston community through our various student-led initiatives, clinics, and fundraisers.
The SBA is dedicated to reinforcing the success that our school has established over the past 94 years, as well as establishing new traditions to propel us into the next 100 years. Accordingly, the SBA hosts many events around campus. Specifically, we help put on wellness and networking events, weekly socials, and monthly rooftop socials. Additionally, every year the Board of Governors puts on a fantastic fall event, like a Halloween party or a flag football tournament, and in the spring, we help coordinate our annual Barrister’s Ball.
In addition to all of the social events, the SBA organizes events that provide students with an opportunity to give back to the community. For over 20 years, we have hosted a food drive that benefits the Houston Food Bank. Over the years, South Texas College of Law Houston has been one of the largest donors, and it is our hope to continue this tradition.
Your Board of Governors is a diverse group of current students. We are comprised of both full-time and part-time students and have varying levels of education and work experience. Most importantly, we have been brought together to best represent our entire student body. We stand by the South Texas College of Law Houston mission to make a legal education accessible and to graduate practice-ready lawyers. As your connection to the administration, faculty, and student organizations, the SBA promises to help deliver this mission equally to both full-time and part-time students.
We strongly encourage you to take advantage of our open-door policy. Feel free to stop by our office on the 4th floor across from Joe Green Auditorium to share your thoughts so that we may be the most effective voice of the students.
