Corporate Compliance Certification Information Session
October 19, 2020 @ 4:30 pm - 5:20 pm
Exciting news! Dean Barry, Dean Taylor and the Curriculum Committee led by Professor Finegan are very pleased to announce the creation of new courses in 2021 dedicated to the important field of Corporate Compliance. Working with a group of external practitioners including former alumni, STCL Houston will be offering courses regarding Corporate Compliance generally, the Global Anticorruption Compliance and Global Trade Compliance. The Corporate Compliance course will address expectations by enforcement authorities of corporate compliance programs and best practices in designing and implementing such programs. The Global Anticorruption Compliance Course will address the fundamentals of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and similar anticorruption laws around the world in countries with increasing civil and criminal enforcement activity. The Global Trade Compliance course will address the regulatory landscape of economic sanctions, export controls, customs, and antiboycott requirements articulated in U.S. laws and how those requirements apply to corporate compliance program design and implementation. These three courses, along with others within our existing curricula, will be designated as components making up a new Corporate Compliance Certification to launch in the Fall of 2021. We believe this new offering will enhance the preparation of our graduates to serve increasing compliance demands in the future job market relevant to practitioners across the corporate, transactional and litigation fields whether domestic or international.
Dean Taylor and the external practitioners will host a series of Zoom calls to explain the mission of the Certification and the details of each course via Zoom ID: 7136461856.
- Monday, October 19th – 430-520 pm: Learn about the vision, mission and value of our future Corporate Compliance Certification program led by Dean Taylor and Natalia Shehadeh, Chief Integrity Officer of ABB Ltd.
Then the week of Oct. 26th students will be offered the opportunity to vote on what course(s) from among the three are offered in the Spring 2021 semester. This affords you all with the opportunity to express your view on this vision and our curriculum expansion. We hope you will join us!
To register to attend any of these Zoom calls, please email Natalia Shehadeh, Chief Integrity Officer of ABB Ltd.
