The “First Step” to Distraction-Free Driving Scholarship

Description: Sutliff & Stout’s Houston personal injury law firm is guided by a singular belief: That access to competent legal representation – regardless of income or social standing – is a fundamental right. If you or a loved has been seriously injured, we want to help.

In an effort to reduce the devastating consequences of distracted driving among young drivers, the auto accident lawyers at Sutliff & Stout are offering a $2,500 scholarship to students.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be EITHER out-going high school seniors (graduating in 2017) OR students currently enrolled in a college, trade school, or university as of the start of the fall 2017 semester.

Houtan Scholarship Fund

Description: The Houtan Scholarship Foundation seeks students from all origins, Iranian and non-Iranian, who have high academic performance and proven interest in promoting Iran’s great culture, heritage, language and civilization.

Eligibility: Must have working knowledge of Farsi, interest in Iranian culture/heritage/literature, attending graduate school, academic success/significant improvement in academic success, financial need

Award: $2,500 per semester

Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation

Description: The foundation is able to provide scholarships to Thetas in good standing for undergraduate and graduate education. Please refer to the website for an A to Z listing of scholarships and applications.

Eligibility: Women only, must be a U.S. or Canadian citizen. Scholarships are based on financial need, and be a KAT member in good standing.

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans

Description: The purpose of The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is to provide opportunities for continuing generations of able and accomplished New Americans to achieve leadership in their chosen fields. The Program is established in recognition of the contributions New Americans have made to American life and in gratitude for the opportunities the United States has afforded the donors and their family

Practicing Law Institute Bar Review Program Tuition Scholarships

Description: PLI awards scholarships covering the full or partial tuition cost for attending its seminars. Law students generally receive full scholarships to most programs, except for a $25 application fee (below). Faculty usually receives 75% scholarships to most programs. Scholarships are also available to legal aid and government attorneys, judges, judicial clerks, and employees of nonprofit organizations.

Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris Legal Scholarship

The personal injury attorneys at Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris would like to offer an aspiring law student the chance to receive a $1,000 scholarship that will go towards furthering their education in law. Offering 2 scholarships that will be awarded in the Spring and one in the Fall. The applicant must write a 500+ word essay for the below topic:

• Create an essay on how your life has been impacted by a personal injury for yourself or a family member.

The personal injury attorneys at Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris would like to offer an aspiring law student the chance to receive a $1,000 scholarship that will go towards furthering their education in law. Offering 2 scholarships that will be awarded in the Spring and one in the Fall. The applicant must write a 500+ word essay for the below topic:

• Write an argumentation about whether a specific policy (of your choosing) in the personal injury system is unjust and requires reform, or is just and should stay the same.
