What We Do
The Academic Externship Program comprises a range of clinics that guide students working in the field in every sector of government service, in public interest lawyering and non-profit venues, and in state and federal judicial chambers. Six major clinics form the externship program:
- Public Interest Clinic
- Government Process Clinic
- Judicial Process Clinic
- Criminal Process Clinic
- Hospital Law Clinic
- International Process Clinic
Academic externships offer a guided learning experience under the supervision of a full-time faculty member. The student’s field work is supplemented with targeted skills and values development through the Lawyering Skills and Professional Values Seminar.
Why We Selected These Clinics
Our externship program is part of a long-standing tradition of service at the law school. For more than four decades, South Texas College of Law Houston students have interned in state, national and international placements, serving the traditionally disadvantaged, the courts, non-profit agencies, and government agencies.
