"The Environmental Law Society is open to students interested in environmental law issues. The group sponsors speakers who focus on environmental topics and participates in environmental programs sponsored by various community interest groups.

STCL's Environmental Law Society provides services to the students of STCL and the community. ELS hosts an annual Career Night which provides students from STCL, the UH Law Center, and Thurgood Marshall School of Law the opportunity to listen to and meet Environmental lawyers from all areas of environmental law. The ELS also participates twice a year in the Texas Beach Clean-Up, hosted by the General Land Office.

Our members are participants in the monthly HBA Environmental Division's luncheons, the Texas Environmental Superconference that takes place in Austin, Texas, and many other environmental law conferences. Students who participate in these events are able to meet attorneys in the field and learn about current environmental law issues.

ELS members are also attendees at the annual NAELS Conference (National Association of Environmental Law Students). At the NAELS conference, students from STCL have networked with other students from all over the country and have come home holding national offices.

Finally, ELS is proud of its recycling program at school and would appreciate everyone's help in making sure we use the blue bins located around the school to recycle all paper products. Plans to further expand the program to include recycling aluminum and plastic cans and bottles are also in the works."
