Letter from the President

Katie Wilson, SBA President

Fellow Students,

Welcome to your 2017-2018 year at South Texas College of Law Houston! As your Student Bar Association President, I want to ensure that this year we continue to serve our fellow classmates to reach the highest level of success with integrity and that we remain committed to our Houston community through student-led initiatives, clinics, and fundraisers.

One of the goals of your SBA is to reinforce the success our school has established over the past 93 years as well as establish new traditions to propel us into the next 100 years.  The SBA hosts many events around campus. We help put on wellness and networking events, weekly socials, and monthly rooftop socials. Every year the Board of Governors puts on a fantastic Halloween Party, and in the spring, helps coordinate our annual Barrister’s Ball.

In addition to all of the social events, SBA organizes events that provide students an opportunity to give back to the community. For over 20 years, we have hosted a food drive that benefits the Houston Food Bank. Over the years, South Texas College of Law Houston has been one of the largest donors and it is our hope to continue this tradition.

Your Board of Governors is a diverse group of current students, both full-time and part-time, with varying levels of education and work experience, that have been brought together to best represent our entire student body. We stand by the South Texas College of Law Houston mission to make a legal education accessible and to graduate practice-ready lawyers. As your connection to the administration, faculty, and student organizations, we promise to help deliver this mission equally to both full-time and part-time students.

We strongly encourage you to take advantage of our open door policy and stop by our offices on the 4th Floor across from Joe Green Auditorium to share your thoughts so that we may be the most effective voice of the students
