Graduate Details and Instructions

Each semester, graduating students receive an e-mail from the Registrar’s office containing detailed information about commencement. This e-mail includes all documents related to graduation. Please contact the Registrar’s office at or (713) 646-1701 with any questions.

Guest Hooders

A special part of the commencement ceremony is the hooding of new graduates by alumni relatives instead of faculty hoodmasters. Among our guest hooders are parents, spouses, siblings, grandparents, significant others, aunts, uncles, and cousins of the gradates. Guest hooders are required to be graduates of STCL Houston.  If you will have a guest hooder, you must complete the online Guest Hooder form by April 25, 2018. For more information about guest hooding, contact Teresa Kaiser at or 713-646-1804.

Graduation Photographs

All graduates will be professionally photographed by Marc Nathan Photographers, Inc. as they shake hands with the Dean on stage. As each graduate walks off the stage, an individual portrait will also be taken. If the graduate will be hooded by a close friend or family member, we encourage them to have their portrait taken together as well as alone. Those images will be sent to each graduate’s email and physical address as provided to the photographer in the robing room prior to the ceremony. You also may visit on the Monday following commencement to view all the images from the ceremony.

Marc Nathan Photographers, Inc. will also be available for professional family portraits in two different locations at the reception following the ceremony. You may have as many people in the photo as you wish. Just look for the studio lights and umbrella to locate the photographers. These images will also be available online. If you have any questions, please contact or call (281) 549-2367 ext 2.

Graduation DVDs

A DVD is made after each ceremony and graduates may pick up a copy in the Office of the Registrar. Graduates who wish to have a copy mailed to them can submit their request at or by calling 713-646-1701.

Graduates must complete all obligations before their diplomas are mailed. This includes applying for graduation via Stanley, completing the Financial Aid Exit Interview and Group Counseling Session, completing the Graduate Employment Survey, and having a zero balance. Diplomas will be mailed to the address provided when you apply for graduation.

If, once you have applied, you wish to change the address to which your diploma is sent, you may do so by submitting a Change of Name and Address. Address changes made via Stanley do not change your diploma mailing address. If you have changed your address online, you must also submit a change of Name and Address form with the box next to “Diploma Address” checked.

Graduates may order a replacement diploma by completing the Diploma Reorder Form and mailing it to the Registrar’s office with their $50 payment.
