he Fred Parks Law Library at South Texas College of Law is committed to providing the materials necessary for the scholarship and research needs of the College's faculty and student body. These materials must aid a faculty actively engaged in scholarly research and writing as well as aid its students in their training to become skilled competent legal practitioners and leaders of the bench and bar.

These goals are met in a number of ways which include staffing a reference desk with professional librarians (72 hours / regular weekly schedule; 66 hours / abbreviated weekly schedule); providing faculty current awareness service; preparing legal bibliographies; publishing library guides and research tips; and a willingness of librarians to meet with classes and seminars to discuss materials and sources available in various areas of study and practice.

Reflecting its unique status as a free-standing law school with no university affiliation, the library recognizes its obligation to collect more interdisciplinary materials in order to serve its patrons effectively.
