Sally J. Langston B.A, M.L.S., J. D., Reference and Acquisitions Librarian, has enjoyed a thirty-six year as a professional librarian. Excepting one year spent in a law firm library and two at a liberal arts college, her career has been in academic law libraries.

Sally’s positions in law libraries have been at the University of Houston Law School; Underwood Law Library at Southern Methodist, the law firm of Arnold, White and Durkee (now Howery Simon Arnold & White) and twenty-six years at South Texas College of Law.

Sally received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Texas Woman’s University, where she was a Title-B scholar for the Master’s program. She was granted at J.D. from South Texas College of law in 1991. She attended law school in the part-time program. While in law school Sally served on Law Review; she was named Who’s Who Among American Law Students; was a member of Order of the Lytae; was named to Dean’s List and served as president of the Woman’s Legal Forum.

Sally is licensed by the State Bar of Texas and is a member of the College of the State Bar. Other memberships include: American Bar Association; Houston Bar Association; National Lawyer’s Guild; National Gay and Lesbian Law Association and Stonewall Law Association of Greater Houston. Her academic and library professional affiliations include: Association of American Law Schools; Society of American Law Teachers; American Association of Law Libraries; Southwestern Association of Law Libraries and Houston Area Law Librarians. An avid amateur historian, Sally is a member of several regional historical associations.

During her career Sally has served in technical service areas, in administrative posts and in the area which she enjoys most, reference work. Currently at The Fred Parks Law Library, she is available 12 to 15 hours weekly at the Reference Desk. Of this time, 8 hours is as the reference librarian on duty for weekends.
