Dallam, James Wilmer. A Digest of the Laws of Texas. Baltimore: John D. Toy, 1845. [Also known as (aka) Dallam's Digest. All of the early Texas digests included the full text or brief summaries of the statutes in an alphabetical arrangement by subject headings, and included notes on relevant decisions of the Texas Supreme Court.]
Ferris, J. W., and John N. Lyle. The Revised Statutes of Texas, Adopted by the Regular Session of the Sixteen Legislature, A.D. 1879. Galveston, Tex.: A. H. Belo & Co., 1879. [This is the first complete, official, codified revision of all Texas law. Before 1879, only the Penal and Criminal Procedure Codes of 1857 had been created and approved by the Legislature. Subsequent revisions of all the laws were fairly frequent afterwards, in 1895, 1911, and 1925. Since 1963 Texas has pursued an ongoing revision and recodification of all its laws based on subject compilations, e.g. Government Code, Insurance Code, Penal Code, Property Code, etc.]

Paschal, George W. A Digest of the Laws of Texas. Galveston, Tex.: S. S. Nichols, 1866. [aka Paschal's Digest, or "P.D." This title is the most respected of the early digests, and went through five editions from 1866 to 1875. It was essentially replaced by the Revised Statutes of 1879, but remains useful to this day for tracing the history of some Texas law.]

There is an index included in the later volumes. From 1922 to 1939, this publication was part of the Texas Law Review, and can usually be found bound within each volume. Since 1939 there have been no published proceedings of the annual meetings of the Texas Bar Association, now known as the State Bar of Texas, but the Texas Bar Journal reports on the annual conventions.]
