Over the last year Monica Ortale served as Co-Chair of the Local Arrangements Committee for the Southwestern Association of Law Libraries (SWALL) Annual Meeting. All the work on the meeting came together March 25-27, 2004 at The Magnolia Hotel, 1100 Texas Ave.

The opening luncheon featured speaker was Arthur R. Miller, the Bruce Bromley Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. He addressed the 130 attendees on the effect technology or, specifically, the Internet will have on the practice of law. Many lawyers from local firms also enjoyed Professor Miller's presentation.

For the next two days attendees from 8 states were able to hear lectures on grant writing, developments in technology, management issues, substantive topics of law and enjoy the marvelous Houston weather.
