In a recent study of academic law libraries around the nation, The Fred Parks Law Library ranked 27th out of 187 in net square footage. This ranking places South Texas between the University of Chicago and the University of Maryland law libraries in size. The Fred Parks Law Library currently has 72,304 square feet, which represents a 38.6% increase in size over the former South Texas Law Library Building, which had 44,425 square feet. The largest library in the survey was the University of Texas (Austin) law library, which has 173,500 square feet.
