June 10, 2010--A team of students from South Texas College of Law captured first place at the 2010 Texas Young Lawyers Association State Moot Court Competition. The South Texas advocates defeated a team from Baylor in the final round of the three-day tournament held in Fort Worth and judged by members of the Texas Supreme Court. Students Zach Bowman, Jennifer Schuch, and Andrew Nelson prepared a brief and argued a case involving an insurance claim for hurricane damages. The competition is held each year as part of the annual State Bar of Texas Convention and all Texas law schools are invited to participate. The South Texas team was coached by Associate Dean T. Gerald Treece and Rob Galloway '91. South Texas College of Law has the most successful advocacy program in the country with 104 national competition titles.
