South Texas Alumni Association Elects New Leaders
October 16—The South Texas College of Law Alumni Association membership elected Houston attorney S. Shawn Stephens, class of 1988, as the new president. Stephens is a partner at Baker Hostetler where she leads the Houston office's appellate practice. She has been Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization since 1995. Stephens will be assisted in her role as president by newly elected Vice President S. J. Swanson, class of 2002. Swanson is an attorney at Irelan Hargis, P.L.L.C. in Houston. Three new directors were also selected: J.F. Chester, class of 1997, Bridgett Matthes, class of 1999, and Rachel Palmer, class of 2002. The South Texas Alumni Association has over 10,000 members and focuses on raising scholarship dollars for the law school, networking, and recruiting outstanding students.
