South Texas students top the Texas Bar Exam
South Texas College of Law President and Dean Donald J. Guter echoes Ms. Vaughan's observation, saying: "We believe Ms. Marullo and Mr. Hoover have made South Texas College of Law history by earning the two highest scores on the Bar exam. This is an extraordinary personal accomplishment and a wonderful reflection on the law school. We are exceedingly proud of them." Marullo will address all those being sworn in as new attorneys at the statewide swearing-in service with the Supreme Court of Texas on May 13 in Austin.

May 7, 2013—The top two scores on the February Texas Bar Exam belong to graduates of South Texas College of Law. Jillian Marullo earned the top score and John R. Hoover the second highest score on the grueling three-day Bar exam. “This is the first time in recent memory that the first and second highest scores came from the same school,” says Julia Vaughan, the executive director of the Texas Board of Law Examiners. More than 1,180 people took the Bar exam in February.
