Woman overcomes brother's drowning
to earn law degree  Loren Jones '13 receives her diploma from President and Dean Donald Guter. At age 5, Loren Jones was already bent on become a lawyer. Her calling was reaffirmed years later when her little brother, Logan, tragically drowned in 2004, prompting her family to sue the city of Houston for its uncovered drainage culvert. She received her law degree Saturday from South Texas College of Law. "I'm feeling not only this huge accomplishment of finally getting through everything that happened, but I also know I have the ability to help somebody the way our lawyer helped us," said Jones, now 26.
