99th National Title for the College

    March 10, 2008—A team of students from South Texas College of Law captured first place at the Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Law Moot Court Competition in New Orleans over the weekend. The team of Justin Jenson, Neeley Morgan, and Crystal Peal defeated Tulane University School of Law in the final round of the tournament to bring home the college’s ninety-ninth national title. Students from 28 law schools competed in the competition which poses a legal issue to be briefed and argued before panels of judges. This year’s question centered on a cruise ship’s legal liability in a case of medical malpractice by the ship’s doctor. The judges named Morgan the top advocate of the final round. The team was coached by Associate Dean T. Gerald Treece, Distinguished Lecturer Rob Galloway ’91, Charles Hessel ’04, and Leah Rush ’07.
