The Frank Evans Center for Conflict Resolution (FECCR) has as its primary mission the education of law students in both the theoretical foundations and practical applications of dispute resolution policies and procedures.

In a broader sense the work of the center advances dispute resolution policy and practice through education, research and service.

The center serves as the focal point within the law school providing students opportunites education, research and practical experience in a variety of dispute resolution processes.  The Center, named for former Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals, Frank G. Evans, known as the father of ADR in Texas, sponsors and administers a variety of programs and projects, including classes, clinics, externships and dispute resolution competitions.

As the practice of law evolves, considerably much more time is spent in negotiation, mediation and arbitration rooms than the courtroom.  As a result, it is imperative that students possess not only the ability, but also the expertise in  these contemporary methods of legal representation.

In addition to its educational initiatives, the Center also serves an active and important role in the local, state and national dispute resolution communities.
