An Act to Prevent the Importation of Chinese Criminals and to Prevent the Establishment of Coolie Slavery (1870)
nSec. 2. Any master, officer, owner or part owner of any steamship, sailing or
other vessel, or any other person, violating any of the
provisions of this Act, or assisting in such violation,
shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be punished by a fine of not less than one
thousand dollars nor more than five thousand dollars, or by imprisonment for a term of
not less than two nor more than twelve months, or by both such fine and imprisonment
