Case
of the Chinese Wife (1884)(Sawyer,
J.)
nThe
policy of the act manifestly is to exclude the entire class of
Chinese laborers as a class. The wife of a Chinese laborer
is, it seems to me, one of the class,-- that her status
partakes of and must follow the status of the husband as one
of his class,-- whether she, in fact, labors or not; and, as one of
the class, I think the petitioner is excluded by the act, so far
as any individual personal right of her own is concerned.
