OUR GOAL

The clinic’s goal is to heighten the level of responsibility, ethical conduct, and confidence in each student. The students develop practical lawyering skills such as interviewing clients, investigating, evaluating, and assessing cases for potential litigation, and litigating a case from the initial client intake through the conclusion of the case, including discovery and appeals. Clinic students are initially divided into teams of three, and are assigned a variety of trafficking cases with tasks that encompass immigration law, administrative law, civil litigation, and assisting criminal investigations. During the second half of the semester, after a mid-term consultation and assessment by the professor, students who have acquired the necessary skills and confidence then work with the staff attorney or professor on more advanced cases.
