Program Description
Many lawyers feel overwhelmed when they are asked to review a client's financial statements or to explain even the most basic accounting terms when they counsel a client on financial matters. All lawyers, however, especially solo practitioners, must understand the basics of bookkeeping and accounting to ensure efficient management of their practice and office and to effectively advise clients on financial matters.
In Accounting For Lawyers and Day One of Accounting For Lawyers Plus, attendees will receive an introduction to bookkeeping and accounting basics such as:
- Commonly used financial and accounting terms
- The differences between single-entry and double-entry bookkeeping methods
- The basics of and differences between Cash and Accrual Accounting
- Understanding income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
Those who attend Day Two of Accounting For Lawyers PLUS will have the opportunity to put their newly acquired knowledge to immediate use. They will prepare basic financial statements using "real" accounting software and perform some basic financial analysis.
