Best Practices Project
Thank you in advance for taking the time to assist our Best Practices Survey. Your organization's participation is essential to the project's success.
The Corporate Compliance Center at South Texas College of Law has completed its Best Practices Survey. Corporate compliance is a major objective for many companies this year because of the amended federal Sentencing Guidelines, Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404, the Board’s fiduciary expanding compliance role, and recent high-profile compliance failures. The Best Practices Project will allow participating companies to exchange perspectives on the design and operation of their compliance and ethics programs, and identify best practices for benchmarking and improving their programs’ effectiveness. The Project will consist of three phases, including the survey and a on the report the Project’s findings.
- In Phase I, the Center will consult with a Steering Committee of prominent Texas in-house counsel and compliance officers to identify the topics that are most important to companies implementing compliance programs.
- In Phase II, the Center will conduct its online 2007 Best Practices Survey. The Survey will allow participating companies to obtain a snapshot of current compliance practices. The Survey will take about 30 minutes to complete, and all participants will receive a report of the Survey results at no charge. The Survey will build on the 2005 Best Practices Survey conducted by the center.
- In Phase III, the Center will use the online Survey results, in consultation with the Steering Committee, to formulate questions for in-depth company interviews. The Center will invite compliance personnel from a cross-section of the participating companies to participate in in-depth interviews on key compliance topics. In exchange for their commitment to the Project, companies participating in the in-depth interviews will receive a copy of the Center’s report at no charge.
If you have any questions about the Project, please contact the Center’s Director, Danna Walton.
