Instructions:

Welcome to South Texas College of Law! This course has one required
text, which is Russell L. Weaver, et al., Torts: Cases, Problems, and
Exercises (3d ed., LexisNexis 2009). You must purchase this book and
bring it to every class. This book is available in conventional
hard-cover format, as well as in a loose-leaf format. You may wish to
purchase the loose-leaf format so you don’t have to carry the entire
book with you to every class. Please note that you will want the THIRD
edition (NOT the fourth edition, which is now also available).

There are three “recommended” supplementary texts available in the
bookstore, but I recommend that you hold off until after our first
class before you purchase these texts. I will explain the purpose of
these recommended texts during our first class—you can then make a
more informed decision as to which of these (if any) you purchase.

The following are the assignments for our first two classes. Be
prepared to be called on to discuss this material in detail, including
cases, problems, and textual material. To be prepared, you must
carefully study and brief all the cases in these assignments.

For Wednesday, 8/21, please read pp. 13-27 in Weaver, et al.
