Instructions: Welcome to Contracts!
The two texts required for the course are as follows:
1. Blum & Bushaw, CONTRACTS: CASES, DISCUSSION, AND PROBLEMS
(Wolters Kluwer 3rd ed. 2012).
2. Friedman & Goldberg, OPEN BOOK: SUCCEEDING ON EXAMS FROM THE
FIRST DAY OF LAW SCHOOL (Wolters Kluwer 2011).
The assignments for the first two class meetings are as follows:
Aug. 20 (Tu): Background Reading: Blum & Bushaw, pp. 1-18.
For Class Discussion: Blum & Bushaw, pp. 18-36.
Also, study Restatement (2d) of Contracts § 344
(p. 799)and § 347 (p. 811).
Additional Preparation: You should carefully read the syllabus for
the course. It is posted in the Syllabus folder on the course site
on STANLEY. Please note: There will be a quiz in class over the
contents of the syllabus. I also recommend that you read Chapters 1
and 13 in Friedman & Goldberg before classes begin.
Aug 22 (Th): For Class Discussion: Blum & Bushaw, pp. 37-58 (omit
Problem 2.1).
Writing Exercise: In lieu of working Problem 2.1, you should write
a response to Exercise 01. You will find this exercise in the
Written Assignments folder on STANLEY. Before you begin writing,
you should read Friedman & Goldberg, Chapters 2 and 3. They will
give you some guidance about how to structure your response.
