T. Gerald Treece

Vice President, Associate Dean, Special Counsel to the President, Associate Dean of Advocacy, and the W. James Kronzer, Jr. Distinguished Professor of Advocacy

Dean T. Gerald Treece obtained his J.D. with honors from the University of Houston in 1969. Upon graduation, he served in Vietnam as an officer in the U.S. Army, receiving the Silver Star, Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts, and the South Vietnam Commendation Medal. When his military service ended, he began his legal career as a law clerk for the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Kansas City, Missouri, then joined the faculty at Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, Florida.

In 1978, Dean Treece moved back to Texas and soon joined the South Texas faculty. During his tenure, he has taught constitutional law, torts, trial advocacy, and appellate advocacy. He holds the W. James Kronzer Distinguished Professor of Advocacy endowed chair and serves as Associate Dean, Vice President, and Director of Advocacy. Treece is also the legal commentator for Channel 11 News, the local CBS affiliate.
