Asst Dean Alicia Cramer March 1, 2012

Dear New Student:

CONGRATULATIONS and WELCOME to South Texas College of Law.  The Admissions Office is pleased to announce additional information regarding the New Student Orientation on August 10 and 11, 2012, and a schedule may be anticipated on the site. The program will provide you with required academic and administrative information, an introduction to faculty and staff, and an opportunity to meet fellow classmates and current students.

Your law studies will begin with the very first day of class.  Each of your professors will expect you to be prepared by using the techniques you learned at Orientation.  In fact, your first class assignments will be available on the Internet via your STANLEY account.  You are responsible for obtaining the first day assignments for each class.

Orientation is designed to provide you with a clearer understanding of the law school experience.  However, it is equally important for your family and friends to have a similar understanding.  A special family/friend Orientation session will be presented on August 11 to answer any questions or concerns that they may have regarding law school life and its impact on them.  Details of this session will be provided at Orientation.  In addition, a reception has been scheduled following the conclusion of Orientation, and family and friends are strongly encouraged to attend.

If you have not already arranged for an official transcript giving final grades and degree conferment to be sent to the Admissions Office, please do so immediately (please note, you need only submit the transcript from the institution you graduated from).  Your admission registration will not be processed until the transcripts are received.  Also, if you have a disability that you believe may require accommodation while attending Orientation or law school, please contact the Admissions Office and arrangements will be made to meet with you to discuss the particular needs that may arise.

We look forward to seeing you at the first day of Orientation.  Please remember that attendance of all days of Orientation is mandatory for all new students.  Please call (713) 646-1810 if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Alicia K. Cramer
Assistant Dean of Admissions
