What I did before law school:
I worked for a major engineering and construction firm for two years before law school as a mechanical field engineer. Currently, I work in contract formation and administration on various projects, including a liquid natural gas plant in Trinidad.
Why I chose South Texas:
I chose South Texas because I wanted a program that was compatible with my schedule. Working full-time, I needed to take classes at night and on weekends. South Texas met these requirements and the staff has gone above and beyond what I’ve expected.
What I hope to do with my law degree:
After graduation, I plan to work at a large firm in Houston doing litigation in energy, oil and gas, construction, and intellectual property.
My best advice for incoming students:
The first half of law school is more difficult than the second half. It is important to have a strong GPA for your first year because you will apply for summer clerkships in your second year.
Professor who’s influenced me the most:
Professor Kevin Yamamoto taught my Federal Income Tax class. Working in the engineering field requires me to have a strong attention to detail, but Professor Yamamoto requires even more attention to detail. |
