What did you do before law school?
Right after college, I planned to save the world by going into politics; but soon the political life lost its luster and I went into advertising. After much soul searching over the next few years, I decided to follow the one dream I’d always had but never allowed myself to pursue–law school. I’ve been happy ever since and can’t wait to be an attorney.

What will you do with your law degree?
I want to be a prosecutor where I can help people every single day. I want to get everything I possibly can out of the legal profession. Who knows? Someday my law career might morph into a judicial career. I believe I can take the solid education I’ve gotten at South Texas and do anything I want–the sky is the limit.

What’s your best advice for incoming students?
Believe you can do it. Everyone tries to scare you about law school, yet, interestingly, most people make it to graduation. If this is really where you want to be you will have the time of your life. There is not a single day I haven’t loved coming to this law school–even the bad days.

What’s the best thing about South Texas?
The great thing about South Texas is that there are so many professors who are willing to help you in any way they can. All of my first semester professors were great influences–they were tough but they also believed we could be great lawyers.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
During my time here I have worked as the voice of the students as the editor of Annotations, the South Texas student newspaper. I have had the opportunity to regularly interview the dean, alumni, professors, students, and a number of special guests to the law school. It may not seem like a legal connection, but being the editor of Annotations has allowed me to develop my networking skills, become a better writer, and explore all the opportunities South Texas has to offer. I’ve also been fortunate enough to be part of the #1 ranked Advocacy Program in the country as a varsity advocate at national competitions.

Where’s your favorite study spot?
I love the Fred Parks Law Library. I’m a big fan of natural light and I usually find one of the larger library tables in the corner where I can have books on one side of me and two walls of floor to ceiling windows surrounding me. I have everything I need there–electricity, light, and, of course, internet access!
